March on the Capitol
Every year for nearly 30 years, during National Crime Victims’ Week in April, The March on the Capitol is held in Sacramento, CA. Crime Victims United puts together this event on the west steps of the Capitol. It’s a morning of healing, support and education. Featuring speakers representing law enforcement, state legislature and an inspirational keynote speaker specially chosen to share his/her story.
CVU also selects and honors four Legislators each year, who have demonstrated a commitment to helping victims. The walkways surrounding the lawn are lined with large, standing posters of faces lost to murder throughout California. Each year more are added, sadly. Information booths encircle the event area and offer services from government groups as well as private victim support groups from all across the state.
Crime Victims United Annual Dinner
Another flagship event during National Crime Victims Week is the Annual Fundraiser Dinner.
This event is well-attended by legislators, business leaders and concerned citizens who value public safety and who have made a positive impact on the victims’ community.
Sponsors of the dinner enjoy a VIP Reception with our chosen keynote speaker and a formal dinner at a downtown Sacramento hotel. Partial proceeds from the dinner benefit our Catina Rose Scholarship Foundation which offers college scholarships to young victims.
